UK: PhD Scholarships in Engineering at University of Hull

The University offers the following Scholarships to suitably qualified applicants wishing to pursue research leading to PhD status under the supervision of leading researchers in the fields indicated below. The research programmes will be integrated with training in accordance with Research Council specifications and accredited to the level of additional qualifications (Postgraduate Masters, Certificate and Diploma in Research Training).

Energy Harvesting for Sensor Networks
Medical Engineering
Bone Modelling
Microbubble Ultrasound Imaging
Thermofluid Simulation

Each full-time PhD Scholarship will include fees at the ‘home/EU’ student rate and maintenance (£12,300 in 2006/07), for three years. Overseas students will need to apply for additional funding to cover the overseas fees, such as the Overseas Research Student Award Scheme.

Germany: PhD Studenthip in Physics/Physical Chemistry, Institute for Analytical Sciences (ISAS)

ISAS - Dortmund invites applications for a position of a PhD student (Physics/Physical Chemistry)

The research will focus on a novel combination of confocal vibrational miroscopy and scanning probe microscopies for biomedical applications.

A possible candidate has a strong disposition to learn new techniques and to improve and develop these methods. We expect a strong motivation and ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary team. Non-residents who apply for this job will receive help from the institute to find accommodation.
